Thai food has become, in the past several years, quite the trendy ethnic cuisine. Any American worth his or her culinary salt is at least familiar with the ambassadors of Thai-American cuisine: Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles serves as a home to countless cultures and ethnic groups, including the majority of Thai-Americans. Home of the nation's only designated Thai Town, Thais and Thai-Americans sometimes even refer to LA as "Jungwat" or Province 77 (in addition to Thailand's 76), due to its large Thai-American population.
So naturally, Thai (and Thai-influenced) cuisine in the Los Angeles area should all be of the highest quality and authenticity, right? Well...
Amidst the watered down flavors, dishes of confused ethnic origin, overuse of peanut sauce (not even of Thai origin), and countless restaurants boasting the label of Thai cuisine, Thai Food LA aims to seek out every Thai restaurant in the area, finding the best, as well as cataloging the worst, of Los Angeles' Thai food.
